Cedrika Provencher - Still Hoping for Her Safe Return Home

Today marks the one year anniversary of Cedrika Provencher's disappearance. It is believed she was abducted by a stranger.

Cedrika was last seen in her home town of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec on 31 Jul 07. She had told a local woman she was helping someone find their lost dog.

Since then police have received thousands of phone calls, interviewed hundreds of people and checked approximately 800 cars looking for Cedrika. There have been a number of sightings but unfortunately she still has not been found and the search continues. Quebec provincial police Lt. Francois Doré told CBC News that the investigation is still "very active"

Cedrika's family has not given up hope. With the help of donations, some made from selling roses of a type that has been named after her, Martin Provencher and his family continue to search for his daughter. There is an office set up in the home and Mr. Provencher has travelled across Quebec, New Brunswick and even into the US in search of his daughter.

Cedrika's grandfather told the Gazette they treat the search like a job.

"We're all doing this full time," said Henri Provencher, Cédrika's grandfather. "We still have a lot of information coming in and people who give us possible scenarios to check. We have enough for at least the next few months,and we get new information every day."

"We treat this as a job. We have to. Otherwise, we just get too sad thinking about Cédrika."
